Terms of Use (EULA)

These Terms of Use and End User License Agreement apply to the Mean Pies mobile app, website, and related services. By accessing or using Mean Pies, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or services.

1. Mean Pies

Mean Pies is a pie review app and community. Users can discover pie shops, view reviews, post pie reviews, upload photos, comment, follow other users, and use map-based pie discovery features.

2. Licence

Mean Pies grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these terms and applicable app store rules.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login details secure. You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate another person or entity.

4. User Content

You keep ownership of reviews, photos, comments, and other content you post. By posting content, you grant Mean Pies a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, moderate, and share that content as needed to operate and promote the app and services.

You must not post content that:

• is abusive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, or illegal;
• contains pornography, graphic violence, spam, scams, or misleading information;
• infringes intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights;
• targets or bullies another user; or
• is unrelated to pies, pie shops, or the Mean Pies community.

5. Moderation, Reporting, and Blocking

Mean Pies may moderate, hide, remove, or restrict content or accounts that breach these terms. Users can report objectionable content in the app. Users can also block other users. We aim to review reports promptly, but we cannot guarantee that all objectionable content will be detected immediately.

6. Mean Pies Pieness Subscription

Mean Pies Pieness is an optional auto-renewable subscription that supports the app and unlocks subscriber features. Current subscriber features include an ad-free app experience, a Pieness profile frame, and additional subscriber features that may be added over time.

• Monthly subscription: Mean Pies Pieness Monthly, renewing every month.
• Yearly subscription: Mean Pies Pieness Yearly, renewing every year.
• New Zealand pricing is currently NZD $5.99 per month or NZD $59.99 per year.
• Prices may vary by country or region and will be shown before purchase in the app store purchase sheet.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings.

Pieness is provided through Apple In-App Purchase on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android. Mean Pies does not collect card details for these app store subscription purchases.

7. Privacy

8. Intellectual Property

Mean Pies, the Mean Pies name, logo, app design, code, and non-user-generated content are owned by Mean Pies or licensed to Mean Pies. You must not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or misuse the app or services.

9. Disclaimers

Mean Pies is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Reviews are user-generated opinions. We do not guarantee that reviews, ratings, locations, shop details, or other information will always be accurate, complete, or available.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mean Pies is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from your use of the app or services.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Mean Pies if you breach these terms, misuse the app, or create risk for Mean Pies, other users, or third parties. You may stop using Mean Pies at any time.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use of Mean Pies after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, except where local consumer protection laws require otherwise.
